AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is the final stadium of an infection with the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), that belongs to the family of retroviri. AIDS destroys special cells of the human immune system, the t-cells. This leads to the collapse of the immune system, so that infections can no longer be fought. Often appearing symptoms are loss of weight, being very tired and errors of the nerves, which are related to the harm of brain-cells. You can get AIDS by getting contaminated blood in your blood or having unsafe sex with infected people. Getting AIDS from the contact with contaminated saliva, e.g. from drinking out of a glass of an ill person, is not possible, because the concentration of the virus in the saliva or the sweat is too low for an infection.
