On June 25, 1950 the war began with the invasion of Communist North
Korean forces into South Korea. President Truman
ordered U.S. forces into Korea to assist the U.N. against the Communists.
On October 26, Chinese troops entered the war in order to help North Korea.
Second World War hero General MacArthur was commander of the US troops
until April 11, 1951 when he threatened to attack China ("no substitute
for victory")and was dismissed by Truman ("limited war for limited objectives").
In 1953 an armistice was signed in Panmunjon
but Chinese troops didn`t withdraw from North Korea until 1958.
